Juicing Backstage w/ Rebelution

Hey everyone! So I’m doing a little music series on my blog in the upcoming months which will feature different musicians and their take on staying balanced and/or healthy on the road. Since traveling musicians live a similar on-the-go lifestyle as myself, I thought it would be fun. Plus, if you know me, you know I’m very passionate about music 🙂 I have the privilege of starting this series out with all the good vibes from one of my favorite reggae inspired bands, Rebelution!

A few months ago, I was backstage juicing with them before their show at the Hollywood Palladium. Yep.. I said juicing. Before each show, they make a huge batch of fresh veggie juice for the whole band and crew to enjoy. These guys are seriously dedicated and a true inspiration to staying healthy on the road (that’s green juice in the red cup by the way!).

The guys shared their recipe with me so I could share it with all of you. Keep in mind this makes a really big- and delicious- batch of juice!

Rebelution Good Vibes Juice (makes a large serving for several people- enough for the band and crew)

-2 heads spinach

-5lb bag of carrots

-1 large piece of ginger

-6-8 red beets w/ greens attached

-3 limes

-3 lemons

-3lb bag of red apples

-6 oranges

-2 bunches rainbow chard

-1 pineapple

-1 fennel bulb

-1 bunch kale

-2 large cucumbers

Run all ingredients through juicer, saving the carrots towards the end. You will need to empty out the pulp basket a few times during the juicing process since this makes such a large batch, but that’s okay! Just keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overflow.1380499_10152281870902270_1352720456_n

It’s really awesome to see how juicing is a priority to them and how they make it happen before every show. Makes me feel like I’m not the only crazy one who does this! 🙂 Way to go guys and thanks for having me!

If you haven’t checked out their new album yet, you can get it here on iTunes!
